Traditionally,
Aquatints were etchings, reproduced in black ink, and then hand colored
by the artist. Early Photogravure artists experimented with this medium,
using etched photographs. Johanna Stocker developed a proprietary heat
process to transfer and print photographic images in black and white on
archival watercolor paper. This process stabilizes the inks and allows
the paper to absorb color fast archival water color pigments without
disturbing the integrity of the photographs. |
